Study in Canberra
Canberra, Australia’s capital city in the ACT (Australian Capital Territory)
The national capital of Australia is Canberra. It is a highly safe, very modern and utterly unique city. With a population just over 300,000, it’s rather small. Coupled with the fact its layout is highly engineered and incredibly spacious, Canberra has enjoyed a quaint reputation of being one of country’s more unusual cities.
Essentially, it was established half-way between Sydney and Melbourne to suit the travel needs of the political factions based in these two major cities. In this way, its formation was not “organic” as such but very much constructed. As a result, the town-planning of Canberra is rather odd by Australian standards but wonderfully so. For example, the boulevards are wide and tend to meander in circles past man-made lakes and vast parklands. It is also home to Australia’s Parliament House, many culturally significant museums and various public artworks and sculptures with nation-building significance.
So, if you’re planning on studying in Canberra, you’ll be situated right in the middle of Australia’s political, business and power elite. In this way, if you’re planning an economics, politics, education, journalism or business related career, you’ll have a great opportunity to build helpful networks.
